At Mount Panorama in Australia, the Ford Performance SuperVan 4.2 shattered records, claiming titles as the world’s fastest closed-wheel, electric, and commercial vehicle to conquer the challenging 10-mile racetrack.
Piloted by French racing driver Romain Dumas, the SuperVan 4.2 clocked an electrifying time of 1:56:3247, reaching speeds exceeding 186 mph (300 kph). This feat follows Dumas’s impressive performance at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2023, showcasing the van’s exceptional capabilities.
Built as a purpose-built demonstrator, the SuperVan 4.2 outpaced the formidable Mustang GT3, highlighting its prowess on the track. Ford’s decision to test the van at Mount Panorama underscores its unique challenges and demonstrates its versatility in diverse racing environments.
Following its success at Mount Panorama, the SuperVan 4.2 will continue to showcase its capabilities at events like the Adelaide Motorsport Festival and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. With its groundbreaking performance and innovative technology, the SuperVan 4.2 sets a new standard for electric vehicles in the racing world.
