Volvo is introducing a new safety enhancement across its 40, 60, and 90 series vehicles, designed to alert drivers of potential accident scenes ahead.
Named the Accident Ahead Alert, this feature serves as a proactive safety measure, providing timely notifications to drivers regarding a crashed vehicle in the lane ahead.
Utilizing real-time data sourced from a traffic management center, Volvo ensures that drivers receive crucial alerts, particularly beneficial on rural roads or during nighttime driving scenarios where visibility may be compromised.
By promptly notifying drivers, the Accident Ahead Alert empowers Volvo drivers to respond promptly, adjusting their speed accordingly to navigate the situation safely.

Activation and Functionality
To utilize this new feature, owners are required to activate the ‘connected safety’ option within their vehicle’s infotainment system. This enables the seamless sharing and reception of anonymized data among Volvo vehicles, facilitating the dissemination of vital safety information.

Currently available exclusively in Denmark, Volvo’s Accident Ahead Alert system is poised for expansion across Europe, with potential future availability in other regions, including the United States.

Compatible Models and Exclusions
The Accident Ahead Alert feature is compatible with a wide range of Volvo models, including the XC90 Recharge, S60, and C40, among others, manufactured from 2016 onwards. Notably, while the system encompasses a substantial portion of Volvo’s lineup, certain models, such as the EX30, are presently excluded from this offering.
