After a four-year hiatus from the international events circuit, primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) marks its 100th anniversary.
Coinciding with this milestone is the 60th anniversary of the Car of the Year award, celebrated on the salon’s opening day.
“Following a four-year absence, the Geneva International Motor Show is back,” declared Alexandre de Senarclens, President of the organizer Comité Permanent du Salon International de l’Automobile, a Geneva-based not-for-profit foundation.
“We are thrilled to welcome manufacturers and visitors to Palexpo once again, presenting an innovative format. Our aim is to embark on a dynamic and entrepreneurial journey of rebuilding, with the ambition of year-on-year growth for the show.”
The winner of the prestigious trophy was selected by a jury comprising 59 motoring journalists from 22 European countries.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech clinched the coveted Car of the Year 2024 award, surpassing BMW and Peugeot with a total of 329 points.
The announcement took place at the Geneva Motor Show’s opening, marking its return to the international stage after a four-year hiatus.
