In pursuit of a spacious electric vehicle capable of accommodating the entire family and their belongings? Enter the Li Auto Mega, a new offering from China that aptly lives up to its colossal name.
According to Bloomberg, Li Auto asserts that the Mega stands as the world’s largest mass-produced EV. While the precise classification – whether as the largest minivan or car overall – remains ambiguous, it’s evident that the Mega, measuring 210 inches in length, 72.8 inches in height, and 77.4 inches in width, presents substantial dimensions.
However, it falls short of the proportions seen in vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade IQ or GMC Hummer EV Pickup. Despite its generous size, the Mega surprises with its relatively lightweight EV, tipping the scales at 6,140 pounds, albeit still considerably heavier than a nimble sports car such as the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Externally, the Mega showcases a distinctive appearance reminiscent of various recent EV models. With design cues resembling the Tesla Cybertruck, Lucid Gravity, and Hyundai Staria, its unconventional aesthetic exudes an appealing charm, surpassing the conventional minivans prevalent in the American market.
The extensive glass area offers a glimpse into the cavernous interior, comfortably accommodating seven occupants.
Adorned with white or brown Nappa leather upholstery, the interior boasts opulent features. Configured with a 2-2-3 layout featuring individual captain’s chairs for the middle row, passengers enjoy amenities such as wireless chargers and a rear entertainment system.
Notably, amenities like a fridge, seat massagers, and power seat adjustment are accessible across all three rows, ensuring luxurious comfort throughout the cabin.
Flexibility is another highlight, with the Mega offering multiple seating configurations to suit diverse needs, including camping expeditions facilitated by folding the second and third rows to accommodate a mattress in the rear.
Under the hood, the Megapacks a punch with 536 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, propelling the hefty family vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. Despite its robust performance, the Mega maintains an impressive range of 441 miles on the CLTC cycle, courtesy of its 102.7 kWh battery.
As for pricing, the Mega comes with a starting tag of CN¥559,800, approximately $77,400, making it an enticing option for those seeking spacious luxury within an electric vehicle.
