Manufactured between September 21 and November 2, 2023, at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, affected vehicles prompted an engineering investigation following the discovery of partial separation by the tailgate supplier. A manual bonding process during a specific period raised concerns about long-term durability, leading to a stop-ship order.
Dealers were tasked with inspecting and replacing affected panels bearing part number 5A177C3, with owners notified via mail. Despite the setback, BMW assures no customer complaints or field reports regarding the issue.
