Dodge has recently revealed its latest innovation, the STLA Large-based Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack. What’s catching everyone’s attention is the claim of being the “world’s first and only electric muscle car.”

This model boasts electric power, with options ranging from 420 to an impressive 670 electric ponies. For those who prefer traditional gasoline-powered options, Dodge offers two alternatives. However, notably absent in any variant is the beloved V8 engine that enthusiasts have come to associate with Dodge muscle cars.

The announcement, made on March 5, 2024, signals a new chapter for the Charger nameplate, replacing both the L-bodied Charger sedan and the Challenger coupe.

This new iteration offers versatility and is available in both classic two-door fastback coupe and four-door sedan body styles. However, it’s a departure from tradition under the hood, foregoing the renowned Hemi V8 engine.

While the absence of the iconic V8 engine is stirring debates among enthusiasts, it’s anticipated that older models, particularly those from 2023 and prior, may see a surge in value.

This sentiment has sparked excitement in the aftermarket realm, with visions of perfecting HEMI V8-powered Mopar builds already in the works. One notable example is the ‘subtle’ yet powerful Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak from Road Show International in Atlanta, Georgia.

Featuring a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, this Charger boasts an impressive 817 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a Stage 1 performance package.

With a bespoke RS Edition treatment, including enhancements like Gloss Black Race Spec aftermarket wheels, RS front and rear aero valance, and a lowered suspension setup, this Charger is set to turn heads. It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of classic muscle car performance, even in an era of electric innovation.
