“Herman Young, also known as Demonology on social media, showcased his Challenger SRT Demon 170 in a head-to-head race against a Model S Plaid, and the results were staggering. At Texas Motorplex, Young’s muscle car outpaced the electric vehicle not once, not twice, but three times over the eighth mile.

Clocking in at 5.937 seconds with a speed of 116.79 mph (187.95 km/h), Young’s Demon 170 displayed formidable performance. While impressive, he believes the car is capable of even better, estimating a quarter-mile time of 9.26 seconds.

This is despite his previous achievement of 9.185 seconds at 146.14 mph (235.18 km/h) back in February 2024.

The Demon 170, introduced in March 2023, boasts advertised figures of 8.91 seconds and 151.71 mph (244.15 km/h). With its force-fed V8 delivering a staggering 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft (1,281 Nm) of torque, the car’s potential is undeniable, especially with its corn brew fuel option.

Comparatively, the Model S Plaid, priced at $89,990, offers impressive specs with 1,020 hp and 1,050 lb-ft (1,424 Nm) of torque. However, despite its lower curb weight of 4,766 lbs (2,162 kg), it couldn’t match the Demon 170’s performance.

Dodge’s recent unveiling of the 2024 Charger, including the SRT Banshee, hints at the future direction of high-performance vehicles. With electric options like the Charger Daytona Scat Pack and the upcoming Charger SIXPACK, the automotive landscape is evolving rapidly.

Interestingly, the all-electric Daytona model’s curb weight surpasses even the heaviest Challengers, underscoring the shifting dynamics in the automotive industry. Despite this, traditional internal combustion diehards can still find solace in Dodge’s lineup, albeit with evolving powertrain options.”
