The unibody Pathfinder and QX60 models, positioned below the body-on-frame Armada and QX80, have been subjected to a safety recall affecting 12,019 vehicles produced for the 2024 model year. The recall addresses improperly secured driver-side lap belt pretensioners, posing a potential risk to occupant crash protection.
Attributed to a missing rivet in the driver-side lap belt pretensioner assembly supplied by Joyson Safety Systems, this issue fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Nissan identified the concern during a routine inspection at the supplier’s facility, prompting immediate action to investigate and rectify the issue.
Affected vehicles, produced between November 14, 2023, and January 11, 2024, will undergo inspection and replacement of the faulty assembly as necessary. Owners will be notified to bring their vehicles in for the required remedy, ensuring compliance with safety standards and mitigating any associated risks.
Despite this setback, the Pathfinder and QX60 remain popular choices in the midsize crossover segment, offering V6 powertrains, three-row seating, and competitive fuel efficiency. With safety as a top priority, Nissan aims to resolve the issue promptly and uphold its commitment to delivering reliable and secure vehicles to customers.
