The second-generation Infiniti QX80, aside from its lackluster aesthetics, represents an aging product, having remained virtually unchanged since its introduction in 2010. However, relief is on the horizon as Nissan’s luxury brand prepares to unveil its successor imminently.
Scheduled for unveiling on March 20, with its public debut set for the New York International Auto Show, the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 will mark a departure from its predecessor by eschewing the naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 engine in favor of a twin-turbo V6 powerplant.
This 3.5-liter engine, already featured in other Infiniti models, delivers an impressive 450 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque, representing significant enhancements over the outgoing QX80. Paired with a nine-speed transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed unit, the new QX80 promises improved performance and efficiency.
In addition to the powertrain upgrades, the upcoming QX80 will introduce new features such as air suspension with adaptive damping and active grille shutters, aimed at enhancing both comfort and aerodynamics.
Design cues previewed by the QX Monograph Concept suggest a departure from the current model’s uninspiring aesthetics, with a more elegant and modern appearance reminiscent of premium rivals like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS.
Anticipation is high for the unveiling event, where the QX80’s full suite of features and technological advancements will be revealed. With its expected debut just around the corner, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is poised to redefine luxury SUV standards and compete fiercely in the highly competitive segment.
