Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid 4Matic+ Revealed With 603-HP And Up To 100-km Drive On Batteries

Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, AMG, has unveiled the latest addition to its lineup: the Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid 4MATIC+. This new model joins the sedan and estate versions of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which were introduced last year.

Combining impressive performance with an extended electric range, the AMG E53 features a hybrid system that delivers a potent 577 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain comprises a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor.

The hybrid setup enables the E53 to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds, with a limited top speed of 155 mph. Opting for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package enhances power output to 603 hp and raises the top speed to 174 mph, while allowing the vehicle to run on electric power alone at speeds of up to 87 mph.

Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach, highlighted the vehicle’s impressive electric range, stating that many daily trips can be completed solely on electric power. He emphasized the car’s blend of AMG driving dynamics, responsiveness, and efficiency.

The AMG E53 Hybrid boasts a high-voltage battery with a gross capacity of 28.6 kWh, offering an electric range of over 100 kilometers when fully charged. With a 60 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.

In addition to standard driving modes such as “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” “Smoothness,” and “Individual,” the E53 Hybrid introduces two hybrid-specific driving programs: “Electric” and “Battery Hold.”

Inside the cabin, standard features include electrically adjustable AMG sports seats and an AMG performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather, complete with AMG steering wheel buttons.

The MBUX multimedia system comes standard, but customers have the option to upgrade to the MBUX Superscreen with a passenger monitor. Exclusive AMG content, including AMG Performance and AMG TRACK PACE (optional), is available through the MBUX multimedia system.

The Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ will be offered in an “Edition 1” trim, featuring extensive equipment such as the MBUX Superscreen with a passenger monitor, “Edition 1” lettering and engraving, and illuminated AMG door sills with yellow “AMG” lettering.
