BMW’s Frank Weber emphasized the importance of continuing the demand for manual transmission of M cars to keep the tradition alive. Speaking to Quattroruote, Weber highlighted the increasing preference for automatic transmissions, prompting BMW to release the MT Final Edition of the manual M3 in Japan.
Limited to 150 units, the MT Final Edition commemorates the legacy of the manual transmission M3 and will be distributed through a lottery system if demand exceeds supply.
Scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2024, the MT Final Edition coincides with the mid-cycle refresh of the M3, offering various upgrades similar to the M4 Coupe and Cabriolet.
While the manual transmission remains available for the M4 lineup, BMW’s decision to introduce the MT Final Edition underscores the dwindling demand for manual transmissions in high-performance vehicles.
Despite its higher price tag compared to previous M3 models, the limited production and unique features of the MT Final Edition make it a desirable collector’s item for enthusiasts.
