Citroen India is set to shake up the coupe-SUV market with its highly anticipated C3X model, drawing inspiration from the popular C3 Aircross. Scheduled for a mid-2024 debut, this move positions the C3X in direct competition with the Tata Curvv, signaling Citroen’s determination to make waves in this fiercely competitive segment.
Built on the versatile C-Cubed platform, shared with its siblings the C3 and C3 Aircross, the C3X promises a fresh take on design and features. Aditya Jairaj, CEO and MD of Stellantis India, hinted at an impending reveal, fueling anticipation for what lies ahead.
While sharing components and powertrains with its counterparts helps to manage costs, Citroen has listened to customer feedback, ensuring that the C3X comes loaded with advanced features. From electric folding mirrors to wireless charging and automatic climate control, the C3X aims to raise the bar in its segment.
Under the hood, expect a 110bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with manual and automatic transmissions. An electric version is also in the pipeline, set to join the lineup by early 2025, further expanding the C3X’s appeal.
With its anticipated petrol variant slated for release around June-July 2024 and the electric model following soon after in 2025, the C3X is poised to challenge established players like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna while catering to value-conscious consumers.
As Citroen gears up to reveal more details in the coming weeks, the automotive community eagerly awaits the arrival of the C3X, which could potentially redefine Citroen’s presence in the Indian market. This launch might just be the catalyst Citroen needs to strengthen its position in India’s automotive landscape.
