Alfa Romeo has ridden the waves of the modern Giulia since 2015, but after nine years in the market, the sports sedan is showing its age. Consequently, production is nearing its end. However, Alfa enthusiasts need not despair, as the Italian marque has already finalized the design for its successor.
As per a recent report, the brand’s design team invested two years in shaping the styling of the next-gen Giulia. CEO Jean Philippe Imparato expressed unequivocal admiration for the new design, deeming it an imperative evolution.
Underpinning the forthcoming model is a highly adaptable platform the same one employed by the all-new Dodge Charger (coupe and sedan). The STLA Large platform accommodates both internal combustion and electric powertrains, tailored to suit various vehicle classes. Hence, the new Giulia won’t merely be an upscale four-door Charger; it’s poised to offer a distinct wheelbase length and elevated premium appeal.
Regarding performance, specifics remain elusive. Nonetheless, it’s logical to anticipate Alfa Romeo’s next sports sedan, slated to rival the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 (A5), and BMW 3 Series, to debut with both internal combustion and EV configurations.
The range-topping Quadrifoglio variant will transition to the STLA Large architecture, intensifying competition with the AMG C 63, BMW M3, and the forthcoming Audi RS 5.
As for the timeline, all signs point to 2026 for the debut. Prototypes are yet to grace public roads, but sightings are imminent, likely featuring heavy camouflage to conceal design details until the grand unveiling.
Meanwhile, digital renderings continue to speculate on its appearance. Though the rendition by Tommaso D’Amico, shared on YouTube, may lack inspiration, the arrival of prototypes promises to inject excitement into the discourse. What’s your verdict on these renderings—yay or nay?
