The 1965 model year it brought a significant highlight for Barracuda enthusiasts with the introduction of the Formula S package. Designed to enhance performance, this package raised the Barracuda’s status while demanding a higher price tag.

Included in the Formula S package were upgrades such as the Commando V8 engine, enhanced suspension, special wheels and tires, and a factory tachometer. These enhancements appealed to drivers seeking a more exhilarating driving experience.

Additionally, Plymouth made several revisions to the standard Barracuda model. The previous 170 six-cylinder engine made way for the all-new 225 Slant Six, offering improved performance and efficiency. As a result, the six-cylinder Barracuda was priced at $2,453, while the V8-powered variant commanded $2,535 in its standard configuration.

Total production for the Barracuda in the 1965 model year reached 64,596 units, with the majority equipped with the 273 two-barrel engine. The 225 six-cylinder unit emerged as the second most popular choice, accounting for 16,398 units. However, production figures specific to the Formula S variant are unavailable.

Recently, a Barracuda featured in these photos surfaced on eBay, seeking a new owner. Despite its potential, convincing buyers may prove challenging due to its neglected condition. With visible signs of wear and limited information provided by the seller, prospective buyers are encouraged to conduct a thorough inspection before making a purchase decision.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding its fate, this Barracuda represents a piece of automotive history awaiting a new chapter in the hands of a dedicated enthusiast.
