Suzuki has introduced a refreshed version of its Vitara crossover, incorporating advanced technology and safety enhancements alongside subtle visual updates. The latest iteration of the Vitara, manufactured at Suzuki’s Magyar plant in Hungary, boasts a series of upgrades, although details regarding the full extent of these updates and their release timeline remain unclear.
The revamped Vitara is equipped with the Dual Sensor Brake Support II autonomous emergency braking system, which now offers an expanded detection range covering vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians directly or diagonally ahead.
Additionally, the vehicle features a new driver monitoring system and lane-keep assist for enhanced safety. Advanced features such as adaptive cruise control, integrated with a traffic sign recognition system, utilize millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera to provide added convenience and safety on the road.
Internally, the Vitara showcases a redesigned 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, ensuring seamless connectivity for users. European variants of the Vitara come with Suzuki Connect, enabling remote monitoring of the vehicle through a smartphone application.
Externally, the facelifted model features a fresh grille design with chrome accents, complementing the revised front bumper and fog light arrangements. While details regarding rear design updates are yet to be disclosed, customers can expect typical facelift elements such as revised tail light graphics and bumper styling.
The exterior palette welcomes new options, including a two-tone finish in Sphere Blue Pearl with a Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic roof, and a single-tone Titan Dark Grey Pearl Metallic.
European buyers can select from mild-hybrid and “strong hybrid” powertrains, available with either front- or all-wheel drive configurations. Engine options include a 1.4-liter four-cylinder with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an optional 1.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid variant paired with a 24.6kW/60Nm electric motor and lithium-ion battery.
Suzuki Australia anticipates the arrival of the “strong hybrid” variant in late 2024. Currently, the Australian Vitara lineup offers a choice between a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder unit.
Despite its aging design, the Vitara remains a contender in the Australian market, with sales figures indicating its enduring popularity. However, with competition growing fiercer, speculation arises regarding the debut of a new-generation Vitara as its current iteration approaches its 10th anniversary.
