The McLaren Speedtail stands out as an extraordinary hypercar of the 21st century. It was first revealed in 2018, with only 106 units planned for production. Each car was priced at around $2.1 million, making future profits almost certain for potential sellers.

These vehicles were expected to appreciate over time, particularly due to their limited availability. However, in today’s market conditions, it appears that more sellers are facing challenges in selling expensive cars than ever before.

This specific Speedtail, from the 2020 model year, shines in Burton Blue with just 426 miles driven. Initially priced at £1.8 million, which equates to roughly $2.28 million today, it’s reasonable to expect the dealership owner to seek a similar or higher price, ideally over $2 million.

Unfortunately, despite being listed at auction twice, bidders failed to meet the reserve price both times. The highest bid reached $1.72 million, falling short of the dealer’s expectations. This situation might be a bit embarrassing for the seller.

Nevertheless, eventually, someone will acquire this exceptional vehicle and experience British engineering at its finest. In addition to its stunning Burton Blue exterior, this Speedtail features various carbon fiber components with a glossy titanium finish, including the front splitter, rear diffuser, and side skirts.

The glossy black 10-spoke wheels come with carbon-fiber aero covers, metallic light blue calipers, and Pirelli P Zero tires. Inside, the car boasts a unique three-seat layout, with the driver’s seat in black and the passenger seats in blue leather. The two-tone color scheme extends to the dashboard and door panels, surrounding three touchscreen displays behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

With only 426 miles on the odometer, this car is essentially brand-new. A plaque on the rear bulkhead identifies it as #97 out of the 106 produced. Under the hood lies a twin-turbocharged, flat-plane 4.0-liter hybrid V8 engine, working in tandem with a 310-hp electric motor and a 1.647-kWh battery.

Together, they deliver an impressive 1,035 horsepower and 848 lb-ft of torque, routed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. McLaren claims the Speedtail can reach a top speed of 250 mph, firmly establishing it in hypercar territory.
