There are very few pickup trucks with unibody construction in the United States. Among them, Ford’s Maverick stands as a dominant force, surpassing its rivals in sales performance. During the first quarter of 2024, Ford reported robust sales figures, with 39,890 units of the Maverick sold, marking a substantial improvement from the same period in the previous year.
In contrast, Hyundai’s Santa Cruz experienced a decline in sales despite receiving updates for the 2025 model year. Sales figures dipped to 8,417 units in the first quarter of 2024, down from 9,307 units in the corresponding period of 2023. The absence of a rumored hybrid variant may have contributed to this downturn in sales.
Meanwhile, Honda’s Ridgeline faced its challenges, with sales declining by 12.6 percent during the first quarter of 2024. Honda may need to reassess its pricing and design strategies to maintain competitiveness in the market and appeal to discerning consumers.
