Ford continues to maintain its dominance in America’s full-size truck segment, with 152,943 units of the F-Series and 3,268 heavy trucks delivered in the past quarter. However, compared to Q1 2023, both these truck lines saw a decline.
In the same period last year, they reported 170,377 and 4,045 units, respectively, marking drops of 10.2% and 19.2%. Notably, the F-150 Lightning contributed significantly to the pickup sales, with 7,743 deliveries, marking an 80.4% improvement over the previous year.
General Motors slightly outpaced Ford in total truck sales, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra recording 198,584 sales in various configurations. This included 1,061 units of the Silverado EV.
While both Silverado and Sierra saw marginal improvements from Q1 2023, the Ram P/U experienced a 15% decline, moving 89,417 units compared to 105,350 in the same period last year.
Toyota’s Tundra, exclusively V6-powered, sold 36,215 units, showing growth from the previous year. Conversely, Nissan’s soon-to-be-discontinued Titan saw a slight increase to 4,145 units. With Ford and GM dominating the full-size truck market, Sales numbers across various models show slight variations, suggesting that consumer tastes are changing.
