The 1969 Pontiac GTO offered various engine options, including the L78 400 V8 with a Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor, delivering 350 horsepower. The L74, later renamed Ram Air, produced 366 horsepower, while the top-tier L67 Ram Air IV boasted 370 horsepower.
Less remembered is the L65, a two-barrel version of the standard 400 V8, producing 265 horsepower for improved fuel efficiency. Only 215 units were produced, including a rare triple-blue convertible currently for sale.
This particular GTO, equipped with the L65 engine, has remained largely original, including its paint and interior. Despite some minor issues like a leaking transmission pan, it presents a solid restoration project for enthusiasts.
While the engine hasn’t been started in 20 years, it is reportedly in good condition and turns freely. However, potential buyers are advised to conduct a thorough inspection before purchase. Priced at $70,000, the GTO offers a rare opportunity for collectors.
