In early May 2024, Ferrari will reveal the successor to the 812 Superfast, known internally as the F167, contrasting with the outgoing F152M series of twelve-cylinder grand tourers. This new model will come in the form of a convertible, specifically a retractable hardtop convertible similar to the 812 GTS.
Automotive enthusiast Varryx was the first to spot the open-top prototype being tested on the roads near Ferrari HQ, although it was heavily camouflaged. The F167 GTS showcased notable differences from the 812 series, including a distinct front bumper and headlights.
Despite the camouflage, it was apparent that the F167 GTS was slightly wider than its predecessor, the F152M GTS. Additionally, redesigned taillights were observed, possibly inspired by those seen on the Roma and the 296.
The sound emitted by the prototype suggested a powerful V12 engine, characteristic of Ferrari, and the vehicle exhibited rapid shifting indicative of a dual-clutch transaxle. It’s expected that the F167 GTS will utilize the 8DCL900 transmission, designed for both front- and mid-engine configurations, with a torque capacity of 900 Nm.
Rumors surrounding the engine suggest it will be an evolution of the iconic F140 V12, potentially delivering around 850 metric horsepower. Given Ferrari’s previous achievements with the F140 engine, such as reaching 840 ps in the Daytona SP3, achieving 850 ps should be feasible.
