The increasing prevalence of electric vehicles worldwide enables various classifications and comparisons to aid in making informed decisions about purchasing a new car. While personal preferences often play a significant role, practical considerations also come into play.
For individuals in the U.S. with no budget constraints, the Lucid Air family of vehicles likely tops many shopping lists. With recent upgrades announced for one of its models, the Air becomes even more appealing.
Lucid offers the Air in four versions: Pure, Touring, Grand Touring (GT), and Sapphire. The entry-level Pure, priced at $69,900, offers a range of 419 miles (674 km) and a power output of 430 hp.
Stepping up to the Touring model increases power significantly to 620 hp while maintaining a similar range of 411 miles (661 km), priced at $77,900. At the pinnacle of the Lucid Air lineup is the three-motor Sapphire, boasting a formidable 1,234 hp and a range of 427 miles (687 km), with a price tag of $249,000.
For those interested in maximizing range while sacrificing some power, the Lucid Air GT offers an EPA-estimated range of over 500 miles, precisely 516 miles (830 km), making it the only EV in America to achieve this feat.
Despite offering less power at 819 horsepower, recent upgrades bring the GT closer to the Sapphire model’s standards. With these improvements, the GT now boasts up to 30 percent faster charging times, requiring just 12 minutes to add 200 miles (322 km) of range, making it the fastest charging model in the Air lineup.
Lucid also optimized the vehicle’s automatic preconditioning to ensure efficient charging. The Lucid Air continues to impress with its combination of performance, range, and luxury, making it a compelling choice for discerning buyers.
