The new Volkswagen Passat, available as a plug-in hybrid, offers an impressive driving range, outperforming even the highly-rated Tiguan in this aspect. Initially conservative estimates by Volkswagen suggested around 100 km of fully electric driving range for its latest plug-in hybrids.
However, both the updated Golf and the all-new Tiguan have surpassed these estimates, showcasing Volkswagen’s cautious approach paying off in delivering better-than-expected results. The standout performer in terms of driving range among Volkswagen’s offerings is the Passat eHybrid.
While the Passat was initially touted to have a 100 km fully electric driving range, it now boasts up to 134 km according to the WLTP cycle. This extended range also bodes well for the upcoming Skoda Superb, which shares its platform with the Passat.
Additionally, the Passat eHybrid features a 19.7 kWh battery pack that can be fast-charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 25 minutes, providing added convenience for drivers. Moreover, the Passat eHybrid models, with either 204 hp or 272 hp, offer impressive towing capacities of up to 2,000 kilos.
For customers interested in purchasing the Passat eHybrid, Volkswagen offers various trim options with corresponding pricing. The base model, available as a Business edition, starts at €49,990 for the 204-hp version.
Upgrading to the Elegance Business or R-Line Business editions increases the price to €54,990. Opting for the more powerful 272-hp version starts at €54,990 for the Elegance Business trim, with the R-Line Business edition priced at €56,990. These pricing tiers provide customers with flexibility in choosing the desired power output and level of luxury features.
