Mercedes-AMG has recently revealed the 2025 GT 63 S E Performance coupe in Shanghai, coinciding with the Chinese Grand Prix. Later this year, it will also debut in the US market, boasting 805 horsepower, making it the fastest Mercedes ever produced.
The GT lineup was first introduced in September 2014, featuring a 4.0-liter biturbo handcrafted V8 engine. Initially, the GT produced 456 horsepower (462 metric horsepower), while the GT S reached 503 horsepower (510 metric horsepower).
Fast forward to the present, and we have the first plug-in hybrid AMG coupe, drawing inspiration from Formula 1 and crafted in Affalterbach. It retains the 4.0-liter V8 engine, now delivering 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, enhanced by electrification.
A rear-mounted electric motor adds 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, bringing the total to 805 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque. These power figures propel the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, setting a new standard for AMG production models. The 4-Door Coupe variant achieves the same feat in 2.9 seconds.
With a top speed of 199 mph, the GT 63 S E Performance offers an exhilarating driving experience. The model features a lithium-ion 6.1-kWh battery pack located above the rear axle, equipped with an innovative cooling system.
Charging options include a 3.7 kW onboard AC charger at charging stations, wall boxes, or household sockets. Inside, the cabin exudes athleticism, with standard power-adjustable AMG sports seats offering ample lateral support.
Optional features include AMG performance seats with ventilation and massage functions. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance promises to redefine the GT Coupe lineup until the arrival of the S version in 2026.
