BMW’s M Division is gearing up to introduce two high-performance station wagons: the M5 Touring and the M3 CS Touring. Recently, spy photographers captured a partially camouflaged prototype of the latter in Germany.
The M3 CS Touring, based on the M3 CS sedan revealed a year ago, retains its design elements, engine, and chassis setup but offers a more spacious cargo area due to its station wagon body style.
Visually, it shares similarities with its sedan counterpart, featuring an identical bumper, grille, hood, and distinctive diffuser at the rear. Notably, the prototype lacked the trippy stickers seen on previous models.
Inside, the M3 CS Touring accommodates four passengers comfortably, with the rear bench intact. The front boasts bucket seats, a three-spoke Alcantara steering wheel with carbon fiber details, and carbon fiber paddle shifters.
Equipped with all-wheel drive, the M3 CS Touring houses a potent 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine paired with an eight-speed transmission, delivering 543 horsepower and 479 pound-foot of torque, mirroring its sedan counterpart’s performance.
Expected to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds, the M3 CS Touring promises exhilarating performance. With production limited to fewer than 2,000 units worldwide, it offers exclusivity akin to its sedan sibling.
Meanwhile, BMW confirms the arrival of the larger M5 Touring in the United States, poised to rival the Audi RS 6 Avant. Powered by an electrified 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, the M5 Touring promises remarkable performance, setting the stage for an exciting lineup from BMW’s M Division.
