At the Beijing Auto Show, Nissan introduced four new concepts, offering a preview of four upcoming production vehicles destined for the Chinese market. Among them, the Epoch sedan and Epic SUV are fully electric, while the Evo sedan and Era SUV are plug-in hybrids. Nissan plans to launch a fifth model under its brand in China by 2026, alongside the four vehicles being produced in collaboration with Dongfeng.

In China, electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) are collectively referred to as New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). This explains why many traditional automakers continue to invest in plug-in hybrid technology despite China being the largest market for EVs globally. Nissan aims to cater to both preferences by revealing four NEV concepts at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

These concepts consist of two sedans and two SUVs, each offering both a fully electric and a plug-in hybrid variant. They provide a look into four of the five new vehicles that Nissan intends to launch in China by 2026, in partnership with Dongfeng.

While the Epoch sedan and Epic SUV are fully electric, the Evo sedan and Era SUV utilize a combustion engine as a range extender. Details about the fifth NEV model, which will also be locally produced by Dongfeng, are yet to be disclosed by Nissan.

The Nissan Epoch concept previews a fully electric sedan tailored for urban and suburban environments, likely targeting a compact size. Designed with a focus on innovative technologies and aesthetics, it appears poised to appeal to younger demographics.

Resembling the electric Epic concept but with a more rugged appearance, the Era is designed to excel in urban settings. It boasts an interconnected entertainment system and “zero-gravity seats” for optimal comfort, along with advanced features such as the e-4ORCE AWD system and active air suspension for confident driving across various terrains.
