Bob Broderdorf, Ram’s Global Operations Officer, spoke with the press during the media reveal of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO. He said that Ram sees electrification as important for future performance trucks. Broderdorf believes that Ram has the capability to create such vehicles. He was not vague about it, which shows his confidence. He didn’t just talk about considering it; he sounded certain that Ram could do it.
Broderdorf mentioned that if Ram decides to make an electrified performance truck, it might take some time. Right now, the company is focused on getting other electric trucks, like the REV and the Ramcharger, into production. These are more mainstream products, and Ram needs to establish them first.
Ram’s electric trucks already have a lot of power. For example, the REV has 654 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, which is faster than the RHO. The Ramcharger is similar, with 663 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. It also has a 0 to 60 time of 4.4 seconds. So, Ram already has the power needed for sporty trucks. They would just need to adjust the chassis for better street or off-road performance.
But, as Broderdorf mentioned, Ram is still working on getting its regular electric trucks ready for production. It’s understandable that the company doesn’t have a concrete plan for performance EVs yet. However, it’s clear that Ram is interested in the idea, and that’s exciting.
