The Rivian R1T electric truck has been around for a couple of years and it’s already shaken things up for other car companies. Since Rivian announced it, Ford, Tesla, Chevy, and Kia all rushed to make their own electric trucks.

The Rivian R1 is great, but it’s expensive and not everyone can afford it. To reach more people, Rivian needs more affordable electric vehicles.

Enter the Rivian R2: More Affordable Electric SUV

In March of this year, Rivian announced two new electric SUVs, the R2 and R3. The R2 is expected to start around $45,000, which is much cheaper than the R1 and puts it in line with other electric SUVs from Tesla and Chevy.

Even though the R2 isn’t coming out for another two years (2026), Rivian is already trying to figure out what features people want and how much they’re willing to pay. They’re sending out surveys to people who might be interested in buying the R2.

The surveys show different options for the R2, with different ranges (how far it can go on a single charge) and acceleration speeds. The price also changes depending on the options you pick. For example, a slower version with a shorter range might cost around $57,000, while a faster version with a longer range might cost around $61,000.

This is a common way for car companies to see what features are most important to buyers. By asking people which option they would prefer, Rivian can figure out if people care more about speed or how far the car can go on a single charge.

The surveys also ask people about where they would prefer to charge the car, at home or at a public charging station.

If you’re interested in the Rivian R2, you might get a survey from Rivian asking about the features you care about and how much you’d be willing to pay.
