The story of Saab continues with NEVS and their Emily GT model, keeping us just as curious as when Saab was around. Last year, a Swedish company named Stenhaga Invest bought 80% of the Stallbacka factory and office complex in Trollhattan, where Saab used to make its cars. NEVS kept the remaining 20%.

Now, an unknown European investor wants to buy two of NEVS’ transport projects, including the Emily GT and the PONS, an autonomous shuttle. This investor aims to take over a big part of the Trollhattan facilities and hire many workers.

The investor, EV Electra, is actually from the Middle East but operates from Canada. They tried to strike a deal with Stenhaga to use space in Trollhattan to keep Saab’s legacy alive in Sweden, but it didn’t work out.

So, EV Electra bought a factory in Italy, although they haven’t revealed where exactly or what cars they’ll make there. They’ve been talking about their Quds Nostrum electric sports car even before acquiring the Emily and PONS projects, which might also be built in Italy.

The CEO of EV Electra, Jihad Mohammed, has promised to start producing the Emily GT this year. However, they plan to reveal versions of one of their EV products in June and deliver them by August, likely for 2025 models. This seems too soon to be the Emily GT.

The PONS project might take a few more years, considering the preparation and infrastructure needed for autonomous shuttles. Other companies in this field are also waiting for Rimac’s Project3 autonomous shuttle, set to launch this summer.

As for the Emily GT, it’s expected to have four doors, five seats, a 175-kW battery, and an active air suspension. It will have four in-wheel motors producing a total of 484 horsepower, with a range of 621 miles.

A performance version could have up to 653 horsepower, reaching 62 miles per hour in just 3.2 seconds. There might also be lower trims with different battery sizes. Mohammed mentioned that once investors are updated on EV Electra’s plans, they’ll release a press release answering many questions.
