Ford Motor Company is notably absent from the four-door sedan market, unlike its counterparts such as GM, Stellantis, and the majority of Asian competitors. Neither Lincoln nor the Ford brand offers a four-door sedan anymore, leaving enthusiasts wondering if there’s any chance of a revival from the discontinued Mercury division.

However, one member of the digital car content creator community remains undeterred. While GM still offers the affordable Chevrolet Malibu at $25k and Dodge gears up for production of the eighth-generation Charger Daytona and Sixpack four-door saloon, Ford’s absence in the sedan segment is palpable.

The discontinuation of models like the Fusion has left only the Mustang as the lone survivor in North America, with its counterparts thriving in other markets.

Enter Jim, known as jlord8 on social media, an imaginative virtual artist who envisions a Ford Mystique based on the Fusion. While the design incorporates Mercury-style elements and modern touches, the whole vibe harks back to the 1990s era, reminiscent of classic buddy cop TV shows.

Despite the unlikelihood of Ford resurrecting a decade-old model or reviving a dormant brand like Mercury, fans of Jim’s work appreciate the nostalgic aesthetic. Some even speculate on the ideal powertrain for such a revival, suggesting a V6 EcoBoost combined with electric motors from the Mustang Mach-E for a potent PHEV setup.
