A select number of MINI Hardtop 2-Door Cooper SE models produced between 2021 and 2023 for the US market are subject to a safety recall. BMW of North America has identified a potential issue with the high-voltage battery housing, which may have been improperly manufactured.

The affected vehicles, assembled between June 12, 2020, and November 30, 2022, could experience water ingress due to isolation faults, leading to thermal events. BMW is taking proactive measures to address this issue, instructing dealers to test the battery housings for leaks and inspect for isolation faults.

Owners will be notified starting June 21, and they can verify if their vehicles are affected through MINI’s recall portal using the vehicle identification number. Despite this setback, the MINI Cooper SE continues to offer impressive performance and features, albeit with a limited driving range compared to some competitors.

Looking ahead, MINI is committed to delivering innovative electric vehicles, with plans for the redesigned Cooper E and punchier Cooper SE in the pipeline. As the automotive industry embraces electrification, MINI remains at the forefront, delivering stylish and sustainable mobility solutions to drivers worldwide.
