The recent sales performance of the South Korean automaker in the United States has showcased a flourishing trend in EV sales, marked by the best zero emissions recorded in April to date.
This success can be attributed to the recent addition of the EV9 family-sized three-row electric crossover SUV and Kia’s fully electric vehicles, which have experienced a remarkable 144 percent year-over-year increase.
SUVs now constitute 81 percent of Kia’s US sales, with notable mentions for the best-ever April performances of Carnival, Telluride, and Sportage. Moreover, the new Sorento has seen a significant 24% increase over April 2023.
However, despite these achievements, Kia’s whole performance in comparison to last year has seen a slight dip, with 245k deliveries through April compared to 252k for the same period in 2023. Nevertheless, Kia remains optimistic, especially with the introduction of an all-new design ethos alongside the EV9.
Additionally, the revealing of four models embracing this new styling lifestyle – the Sorento family, the Carnival people mover, the refreshed Kia K5 mid-size sedan, and the all-new K4 compact saloon – further fuels expectations for a brighter future.
While Kia’s sales performance may have experienced a slight setback, the company’s strategic focus on EVs and the introduction of a new design ethos indicate a promising trajectory for the brand in the US market.
