Polestar has initiated significant price reductions across its Polestar 2 lineup, presenting discounts of up to $15,000 until June 9. Among the notable adjustments, Long Range Dual Motor models in Pure specification will now retail for $61,400 before on-road costs, reflecting a substantial $15,000 reduction from the previous list price. This places it near the base Tesla Model 3, priced at $58,900 before on-road costs.
While Polestar’s discount is substantial, it falls short compared to recent price cuts, such as the $25,000 reduction seen in the Peugeot e-2008. It’s also reminiscent of the price adjustments applied to Nissan Leaf and Leaf e+ models.
Various Polestar 2 variants have undergone price revisions. Long Range Dual Motor vehicles equipped with the Performance Pack now benefit from a $10,000 reduction, while Long Range Single Motor prices have been slashed by $7,500.
Additionally, these models have received an extra $5,000 worth of equipment. Standard Range Single Motor iterations have seen a $5,000 reduction, which increases to $10,000 if no additional packages are selected. Consequently, prices now commence from $57,400 plus on-road costs for the base Standard Range Single Motor variant. This promotional offer is valid until June 9, 2024, aligning with the conclusion of the current financial year.
Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3, the Polestar 2 underwent a mid-life update for the 2024 model year following its initial debut in Australia in 2021. Across the lineup, the Standard Range Single Motor variant is equipped with a 69kWh battery, while all other iterations feature an 82kWh battery, offering varying power outputs. Ranging from 200kW and 490Nm for the Single Motor variants to 350kW and 740Nm for Dual Motor versions equipped with the Performance Pack.
Here’s the adjusted pricing summary for the Polestar 2 range: The Standard Range Single Motor model starts at $57,400, while upgrading to the Pilot Pack adds $8,500, bringing the total to $65,900. Opting for the Plus Pack further increases the price to $68,400. Moving up to the Long Range Single Motor variant begins at $58,900, with the Pilot Pack option raising it to $67,400 and the Plus Pack to $69,900.
The Long Range Dual Motor model, offering enhanced performance, starts at $61,400, and adding the Pilot Pack increases it to $69,900. Opting for the Plus Pack with this model brings the total to $72,400, while choosing the Performance Pack, which further enhances performance features, raises the price to $76,400. All mentioned prices exclude additional on-road costs.
