The Ford Mustang Mach-E took a new path by becoming an electric vehicle (EV) instead of a traditional gas-powered muscle car. Some Mustang fans were not happy about this change, but when you drive the Mach-E, you realize it still has that performance spirit.
Ford went even further by creating the Mustang Mach-E Rally. It wasn’t part of the original plan; it was an idea that Ford’s engineers thought would be fun. It turned out to be a lot of fun, thanks to the tough testing it went through to make sure it drives like a rally car.
The Mach-E Rally has all the right stuff. It’s lifted 1 inch higher than the Mach-E GT, with Rallycross-tuned shocks and springs. It has underbody shielding to protect it on rough surfaces and tires made for loose surfaces. It also looks the part with bold accents, like a black-painted steel roof and rally-inspired fog lights.
Testing the Mach-E Rally needed a specific environment, so Ford built one. They made a 500-mile torture test at their Michigan Proving Grounds and pushed the Mach-E Rally to its limits. This intense testing was like 10 years of rally driving squeezed into a short time.
The track started as a grassy field, but engineers made it into the perfect test track. They used their knowledge of off-road testing and vehicle development, plus insights from rallycross events and drivers. They used computer design to plan everything, like elevation changes, speed, and timing. The result is a course that feels like real rally conditions but in a controlled setting. This helped Ford build the Mach-E Rally to meet high standards, making it worthy of its rally name.
