Bentley has revealed that a major change in engine strategy will be implemented with the June launch of the new fourth-generation Continental GT. The new premium grand tourer will have an eight-cylinder engine that is partly electric, replacing the classic W12 engine.
This V8 hybrid powertrain boasts impressive figures, producing 771 hp (782 ps/575 kW) and 738 pound-foot (1,000 Nm) of torque, a significant increase over the outgoing W12 model. Additionally, the 2025 Continental GT can travel up to 50 miles (80 km) on electric power alone, making it suitable for daily commuting.
Bentley plans to utilize its Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain in other upcoming models, including coupe and convertible versions of the next-gen Continental, as well as the Bentayga SUV and the Flying Spur sedan, which competes with luxury models like the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
In addition to announcing the revealing date, Bentley has released prototype images of the 2025 Continental GT, showcasing its evolutionary design. While maintaining similar proportions to its predecessor, the new model features updates to the front and rear aesthetics.
The front end now sports large oval headlamps, a redesigned grille, and modified air intakes, while the rear boasts wider taillights and refined bumper details. Bentley will provide full details of the 2025 Continental GT in approximately one month, with orders expected to open shortly after the revealing.
For enthusiasts mourning the discontinuation of Bentley’s W12 models, there is still time to acquire one, as dealerships have remaining inventory. Given the impending end of W12 production, these vehicles may appreciate in value over time.
