Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur is not the same as Mercedes-Benz AG’s Manufaktur division for customization purposes. June 2024 will see the debut of the Mythos brand’s first product.
According to Autocar, buyers were invited to a preview event for an “open vehicle concept with an extremely low silhouette” that had no windshield or roof and a halo rollover safety system modeled like a racecar. Due to its design, driving at high speeds while wearing a helmet protects against insects and flying debris.
Mercedes-Benz AG teased this SL-based speedster, which has a windshield in the teaser photo, during their 2023 annual results conference on February 22, 2024. CEO Ola Kallenius first mentioned the ultra-luxurious speedster at the 2022 annual general meeting. Following this will be a Maybach version.
The Mercedes-Maybach SL, shown at the 2023 conference with red paint, a flashy radiator grille, and a black hood, will be more enjoyable to drive than its predecessors.
The Mythos SL, similar to the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+, has 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque at 2,500 rpm, making it a unique grand tourer.
Future Mythos vehicles may differ from their Mercedes and AMG counterparts as the Mythos SL does from the AMG SL 63. The full reveal of the Mercedes-Mythos SL is expected by the end of 2024 for the 2025 model year, potentially making it a collectible.
Meanwhile, AMG’s most powerful series-production car is the 831-horsepower GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE 4-Door Coupe, compared to the SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE’s 805 horsepower.
The limited-run ONE hypercar, with its F1 turbo V6 hybrid power unit from Brixworth’s Mercedes AMG High-Performance Powertrains, isn’t considered a series-production car due to its UK assembly by Multimatic.
