GMC recently collaborated with Overland Expo to launch the adventure season at Overland Expo West with their latest ‘Ultimate Overland’ build, a thoroughly revamped GMC Canyon AT4X. While these vehicles are designed for tough conditions, traditional approaches won’t necessarily make you stand out. Digital car content creators know that a bit of boldness is needed to attract attention.

Enter Jim, a virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, who enjoys experimenting with CGI in the automotive world. He dreams of reviving the GMC Syclone, a truck from 1991 that was the fastest production truck of its time and is now considered one of the most powerful classic American pickup trucks, ranking fifth with 280 hp.

Many view the Syclone as a diamond in the rough, and its name still evokes fond memories. This time, Jim focuses on the red special-edition Marlboro Syclone, a grand prize in a 1992 contest sponsored by Marlboro.

Reviving the Marlboro GMC Syclone in 2024 might not be politically correct, but a street-truck-style version of the Canyon could be a good idea since GMC already offers various models, including workhorse, regular, ritzy, and off-road versions.

This hypothetical model would feature a performance-oriented design with a lower ride height, single-cab, short-bed configuration, retro-styled black alloy wheels, and plastic mirror caps, along with a potent powertrain. Interestingly, the CGI artist chose to omit the signature Marlboro Syclone Targa-style T-top roof panels, making the design more feasible for a real-world build.

However, he didn’t provide details about the engine, leading to speculation in the comments about a potential big-block V8 with a supercharger. The modified truck’s background includes a quarter-mile dragstrip, suggesting its ideal use-case scenario.
