Stellantis has also ordered the discontinuation of the L-bodied Charger and Challenger models, in line with GM’s intention to discontinue manufacturing of the sixth-generation Camaro in December 2023. However, these cars, especially the Hellcat models, will continue to be around for a while as long as enough inventory is sold.
The action continues at local quarter-mile dragstrips and national superspeedways. For example, the ImportRace channel on YouTube is exploring a new location: Pocono Raceway, known as ‘The Tricky Triangle,’ in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. This iconic track hosts NASCAR and ARCA Menards Series events and year-round racing activities like RaceMotive’s roll racing events.
The channel’s highlights include a 600-hp McLaren 570S, an 870-hp tuned S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, and twin 1,100 and 1,200-hp Corvette Z06s. A white-and-black Cadillac CTS-V previously took center stage, but now it’s a turbocharged Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat’s turn.
Facing a 630-hp Nissan GT-R, the Hellcat easily outperformed it with a top speed of 158 mph compared to the GT-R’s 123 mph. However, a 1,000-horsepower Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 provided a closer race, with the Mustang winning at 159.51 mph to the Hellcat’s 158.57 mph.
The Hellcat then raced a 700-hp BMW M4, winning with a top speed of 157 mph against the BMW’s 149 mph. Finally, a Porsche, likely a 911 Turbo S, narrowly defeated the Hellcat, hitting 161 mph versus 158 mph.
