Ford appears interested in expanding the Mustang lineup. Currently, it includes the coupe and convertible versions of the S650 and the Mach-E electric crossover. If plans proceed, a four-door sedan might join the lineup.

Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, recently hinted at a possible four-door Mustang. The model would need to maintain the muscle car’s essence and, given its size and shape, would compete with Dodge’s new Charger Sedan and possibly BMW’s 3 Series/4 Series Gran Coupe.

Farley emphasized that Ford will “never build a Mustang that isn’t a Mustang” and would not use the name for something like a “two-row Ford SUV.” However, the company is open to “exploring” other body styles, like a sedan, as long as they embody the performance and attitude of the original Mustang.

Introducing a four-door Mustang is a bold move in a market dominated by crossovers. This concept has inspired several virtual designs of four-door S650 Mustangs. The latest design from Kolesa imagines a new-gen Mustang with an extended wheelbase and four doors, featuring a coupe-like roofline, more rear passenger space, and the same front and rear fascias.

We find the idea of a four-door Mustang intriguing, especially as it would challenge Dodge’s Charger Sedan. General Motors also seems interested in a similar model that might use the Camaro nameplate. While the new Dodge Charger offers both electric and gasoline options, the rumored four-door Mustang is expected to stick with internal combustion engines, whereas the possible Camaro Sedan might be an EV.

There’s much anticipation for these models, as they would allow their makers to enter a different market segment. Would you consider buying a four-door muscle car? If so, would you choose the Charger, Mustang, or Camaro?
