On April 23, Tesla revealed the refreshed Model 3 Performance, garnering a positive reception. Notably, it qualifies for a $7,500 federal tax credit, making it more affordable than the Model 3 Long Range AWD. However, any added options disqualify it from this credit, as even a slight price increase of $1,000 pushes it over the $55,000 limit.
The only color choice that maintains eligibility for the credit is Stealth Grey, although the white interior is now available at no additional cost. Deliveries were set for mid-May but were briefly delayed for EPA approval, which was quickly resolved.
The new Model 3 Performance boasts an official EPA range of 303 miles, exceeding the initial estimate of 296 miles. This range is just shy of the Long Range variant by 38 miles, highlighting its efficiency due to a new generation of the Performance rear motor.
The previous Model 3 Performance had a range of 315 miles, but the new model was tested under updated EPA rules, which reduced ratings for all EVs. Under last year’s testing procedures, the new Model 3 Performance could have been rated for approximately 323 miles. The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance’s range estimate is now listed on Tesla’s website and will soon appear on the EPA’s site.
