Before its big reveal at the Nurburgring 24-Hour event, Volkswagen has confirmed some exciting news about the 50th-anniversary Golf GTI. It’s going to be called the Golf GTI Clubsport, and it’s going to be the most powerful front-wheel drive Golf ever made. They’re also adding a fancy “high-end sports suspension” to make it even better than before.
The new GTI Clubsport looks different from the regular Golf 8 GTI. It’s got a redesigned front with a cool new bumper, fancy LED Plus headlights, and even a lit-up VW logo. At the back, there’s a big spoiler on the roof, new LED taillights, and special 19-inch wheels. Inside, there’s going to be some changes too, like a new steering wheel and a fancy infotainment system.
Volkswagen says this new GTI Clubsport will have more power than any other front-wheel drive Golf they’ve ever made. But they’re keeping the exact number a secret for now. We do know it’ll have a special “Nurburgring” driving mode for maximum performance.
At the Nurburgring 24 Hour race, Volkswagen is entering a special racing version of the Clubsport. It’s got 343 horsepower and runs on a special kind of fuel. They’re also celebrating the GTI’s anniversary by racing three old-school GTIs from the 1980s.
So, it looks like Volkswagen is going all out to celebrate 50 years of the Golf GTI!
