Volkswagen is gearing up for the highly anticipated ADAC 24-hour race, Germany’s premier motorsport event. Scheduled for May 31 at the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack, the automaker will reveal its latest marvel: the Golf GTI Clubsport, dubbed the most potent front-wheel-drive Golf to date.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Golf GTI Clubsport is set to make a grand appearance at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, still showcasing its eye-catching camouflage. The model boasts several significant enhancements, including newly designed LED headlights, an illuminated VW emblem, and a substantial roof spoiler for improved aerodynamics.
The Clubsport also features updated LED taillights, distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels that echo previous versions, and a new multifunction leather steering wheel. Inside, drivers will find an advanced Infotainment system equipped with the latest voice assistant IDA, now integrated with Chat GPT for an enhanced driving experience.

Exciting as the Golf GTI Clubsport is, Volkswagen plans to upstage its series-production launch with two remarkable Golf GTIs.
In an exciting demonstration of sustainable racing technology, a Max Kruse Racing team entry will feature in the 24-hour endurance race with a Clubsport car powered by E20 alternative fuels. This vehicle, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine delivering 343 horsepower, uses a bioethanol blend provided by Shell to highlight both its environmental benefits and high performance.
Alongside this modern marvel, the event will also showcase three classic first-generation Golf GTIs in the ADAC 24h Classic race. Among these is a striking 1980 Golf GTI from Group 2, adorned in the same camouflage livery as the GTI Clubsport. Despite its vintage, the compact body and aggressive widebody kit of the 1980 model give it a unique and compelling presence that rivals the contemporary Clubsport’s appeal.
