While the “Austin Pedal Car” might not be well-known here, it’s loved in the UK for its detailed, classic pedal cars. Both adults who collect cars and kids who love to drive them enjoy these cars.

Now, the British company has teamed up with Holland & Sherry, a famous tailoring company, to create a special version of their classic J40 pedal car called the J40 Continuation.

This new model is really beautiful, made with billet-aluminum, precise steering, a rear disc brake, and a pedaling system that’s perfectly balanced. While they haven’t set a price yet, a new Continuation model usually costs about $32,000. They also sell restored versions of the original models from decades ago, starting at about $7,500.

The special thing about this collaboration is the interior, which is covered in Holland & Sherry cloth. Each seat is individually designed and tailored, matching the car’s turquoise paint. Customers can even choose from different colors and cloths.

The original J40 pedal cars were made between 1949 and 1971. It’s said that even Prince Charles, who is now King Charles, had one as a child. These cars were created when the British government wanted to provide jobs for disabled mine workers after World War II. The president of Austin Motors got the idea to make these cars using scrap metal from his supply chain. He hired 250 former miners in Wales to make them. These mini cars had hoods that opened, working lights, and Dunlop tires.

Mark Burnett, the managing director of Austin Pedal Cars, said, “It’s a real honor to work with a prestigious brand like Holland & Sherry. The J40 Continuation we made combines the best of British style and design. It’s a perfect addition to any car collection, or it could even be displayed as a piece of art.”
