Cadillac has introduced another electric vehicle (EV) called the 2025 Cadillac Optiq. This new car joins a lineup that already includes the Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ, and Celestiq, and it’s meant to be the most affordable option for customers in North America.
The Optiq is a smaller luxury crossover with an estimated range of 300 miles on a full charge. It comes with dual-motor all-wheel drive and GM’s Super Cruise feature, which allows for semi-autonomous driving on certain highways.
Under the hood, the Cadillac Optiq packs an 85-kilowatt-hour battery that gives it that 300-mile range. While specific details about its charging speed weren’t provided, Cadillac claims it can regain about 79 miles of range in just 10 minutes on a fast charger.
The car is powered by a combination of front permanent magnet and rear induction motors, delivering a total of 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. It also features one-pedal driving and a Regen-On-Demand paddle for enhanced efficiency, similar to what you find in models like the Chevy Bolt and Cadillac Lyriq.
In terms of size, the Optiq is a bit smaller than its sibling, the Lyriq. It’s about 6.9 inches shorter in length, with a wheelbase that’s 5.7 inches shorter. The car is also slightly narrower and taller than the Lyriq.
Design-wise, the Optiq bears a resemblance to the Lyriq but with its own unique touches. It features a sleek exterior with a black crystal grille and illuminated accents, giving it a luxurious look.
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a large 33-inch LED display that serves as both the infotainment system and instrument panel. The car comes equipped with Google Built-In technology, including Google Assistant and Google Maps. It boasts a premium AKG audio system with 19 speakers and Dolby Atmos capability.
The interior of the Optiq is crafted with sustainable materials like recycled yarn and “PaperWood” veneer made from tulip wood and recycled newspaper. There’s plenty of storage space throughout the cabin, though second-row headroom is a bit limited. The car offers 26 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, expandable to 57 cubic feet with the seats folded down.
The starting price for the Cadillac Optiq is around $54,000, with Sport and Luxury trims available. While currently only offered with all-wheel drive, Cadillac hints at the possibility of a two-wheel drive version in the future depending on customer demand.
The company aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup in the coming years, with Cadillac VP John Roth stating that they plan to offer an all-electric portfolio by the end of the decade.
