Jeep is known for its rugged off-road vehicles, so it’s surprising that its first all-electric model, the Wagoneer S Launch Edition, is more focused on street driving. Bill Peffer, a top executive at Jeep, explained that this was because the Launch Edition was planned before the off-road-focused Jeep Recon. However, at the Wagoneer S reveal, Jeep displayed its commitment to off-roading with the Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept, which embodies the classic Jeep spirit.
The Trailhawk concept shares many features with the regular Wagoneer S, though specific details weren’t provided. It might not have the same power or fancy technology as the Launch Edition, as seen in the absence of a passenger infotainment screen. However, it makes up for this with its practicality on rough terrain.
The Trailhawk concept boasts 3 inches of added ground clearance, reaching a total of 9.4 inches compared to the Launch Edition. This is thanks to a 2-inch suspension lift and larger 31.5-inch all-terrain tires. Its approach and departure angles are also improved, with steeper front and rear bumpers. It features an enhanced Selec-Terrain traction system with a “Rock” mode, unlike the Launch Edition.
Its rugged appearance is accentuated by scratch-resistant black plastic trim, bright red-orange tow hooks, and an aluminum roof rack. The interior is tailored for off-road adventures, with a large grab bar for the passenger and extra grab handles in the center console. The upholstery is faux leather in a unique Mantis Green color with Ultraviolet purple stitching. It also features granite veneer trim and customizable storage straps in the doors.
While Jeep hasn’t confirmed if the Trailhawk concept will go into production, they are seeking feedback to gauge interest. Many believe it embodies the true spirit of Jeep and would be popular among outdoor enthusiasts. The distinctive green interior adds to its appeal.
