On March 20, 2024, Volkswagen AG discovered a defect in the combined parking/turn signal lamp behavior during internal testing. The affected vehicles, identifiable by VINs starting with W, were produced at the Zwickau-Mosel plant in Germany, where Audi Q4 e-tron models are assembled.
In China, the production is managed by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The issue stemmed from Valeo Espana installing ECE-compliant lighting software instead of the US-compliant version, necessitating a recall.
This issue violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which governs automotive lighting and signaling devices. The corrective measure involves updating the headlight control unit with the appropriate software, and dealers have already been instructed to carry out this update.
Owners will be notified about the recall by July 19, 2024, and can verify their vehicle’s status through Audi’s recall portal using the VIN. The recall, numbered 24V-361, affects 17,797 units across various Q4 e-tron models, highlighting Audi’s extensive efforts to rectify the issue.
