Mazda’s crossover SUVs continue to dominate their lineup, with over 116,000 vehicles delivered in the first four months of the year, overshadowing the nearly 15,000 Mazda3s sold.
Among the standout performers are the new CX-90 and the CX-50, a sibling to the popular CX-5. The compact CX-30 also shows strong market resilience, experiencing a 40% surge in deliveries through April.
Initially launched as a subcompact crossover SUV in 2020, the CX-30’s positive performance has prompted Mazda to plan a mid-cycle refresh to keep the model appealing.
Speculation hints at interior upgrades, including a new steering wheel, a larger central display for the infotainment system, and additional color options.
Although technical specifications are unconfirmed, the existing 2.5-liter engine lineup, with turbocharged and non-turbocharged variants producing 191 or 250 horsepower, is expected to continue.
Despite rumors of a second-generation CX-30, Mazda’s primary focus remains on the upcoming generational change for the CX-5, particularly with an eye on hybrid powertrains to sustain its success in the competitive crossover market.
