Hyundai is gearing up for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with an international team of drivers from Europe, North America, and China, striving for their fourth straight win. Competing in the TCR class, they will field three Elantra N TCR cars, numbered #830, #831, and #832.
Among the returning drivers are Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng, and Manuel Lauck, who have clinched victories in the last two years. Notably, Basseng and Lauck also led Hyundai Motorsport to their inaugural TCR class win in 2021 with the Veloster N TCR.
Lauck, the most seasoned Hyundai driver at Nürburgring, and Basseng, a Nordschleife expert with over 100 races at the circuit, add significant experience to the lineup.
Azcona, the leader of the TCR World Tour, will be accompanied by Bryan Herta Autosport drivers Harry Gottsacker and Mason Filippi.
Gottsacker brings Nürburgring experience, while Filippi is new to the race. Filippi expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled about this unique challenge and will draw on my BHA teammates’ experiences to prepare for the race.”
Additionally, Elantra N TCR customers will join Hyundai Motorsport’s Elantra N TCR cars in the race. Hyundai Motorsport will also debut its latest high-performance model, the Ioniq 5 N, at the midpoint of the race.
Last year, Hyundai Motorsport achieved a 1-2 finish with the #830 and #831 cars. This year, they aim to match or even surpass their record of four consecutive TCR class wins.
