During the presentation of the Wagoneer S, Jeep’s CEO, Antonio Filosa, announced that a new “mainstream” D-segment SUV would soon be released, hinting at a possible return of the Cherokee name.
Although details are limited, this new model is expected to launch next year as a 2026 model. It will be positioned above the current Compass and is likely to feature a Trailhawk off-road variant.
The Cherokee’s MSRP has seen a notable increase over the years, starting at just over $28,000 in 2021 and rising to $37,695 for the base Altitude Lux model by 2023, with the Trailhawk variant beginning at $41,295.
The Cherokee’s sales have declined recently, with only 24,610 units sold in 2023, down from 40,322 in 2022. 2021 Jeep sold 89,126 units, a significant drop from the 191,397 units sold in 2019.
The all-new sixth-generation Jeep Cherokee will launch as a 2026 model next year, sitting above the Compass in the lineup. It will likely feature gasoline and partially electrified powertrains, with an estimated starting price of over $40,000.
