Bugatti made the final Chiron, named L’Ultime, in May 2024. But what’s next? Bugatti announced that the Chiron’s replacement will come with a new V16 engine and will debut on June 20.
We don’t know much about the new model yet, not even its name. It might get a new name instead of being called the second-generation Chiron. It will be a completely new car.
Instead of the old quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the new car will have a new V16 engine made by Bugatti. This engine will be part of a hybrid system, making the car “heavily electrified.” The chassis, or the frame of the car, will also be new. It’s a challenge for Bugatti to balance the extra weight from the hybrid system. The Chiron was mostly made of carbon fiber, a lightweight material.
Bugatti’s former design head, Achim Anscheidt, said that starting from scratch allowed them to get the car’s proportions just right. The new car will be designed with a focus on hybrid technology. The interior will be updated too, but it won’t have lots of screens. Bugatti wants its cars to last a long time, even 50 years from now.
Even though the new car won’t look old-fashioned, Bugatti looked at its old models for inspiration. The Type 57 SC Atlantic, the Type 41 Royale, and the Type 35 all played a role in designing the new car. Bugatti considers these old models as some of its best and most successful cars.
Bugatti will reveal the new car on its YouTube channel.
