Facing a second year of declining sales, the Jeep Gladiator is struggling to maintain momentum. In the first quarter of 2024, U.S. sales figures dipped 4% year-over-year, totaling just under 13,000 units.
This follows a steeper 29% decline observed throughout 2023, bringing the annual total to 55,188. Experts attribute the slowdown to a combination of factors, including the aging 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and a price tag that positions the Gladiator above key competitors.
With a starting MSRP of $37,895 for the base 4×4 Sport model, the Jeep faces competition from more affordable options like the Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss and Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner. In an effort to boost sales, Jeep recently launched the limited-edition Mopar ’24 Gladiator, a Rubicon-based offering restricted to a production run of just 250 units.
In search of a truck that conquers off-road trails in style? This special edition offers head-turning looks with unique graphics and red accents. Functionality is also a focus, with features like a triple-hoop grille guard, a three-piece hardtop for cargo versatility, and a tough spray-on bedliner.
Inside, Katzkin leather seats and all-weather mats provide comfort and durability, while a custom Mopar badge adds a touch of exclusivity. However, the hefty price tag and the availability of even more expensive performance upgrades might lead potential buyers to consider competitors like the Ford Ranger Raptor or Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison.
